1 – Block paved drive in Chesterton, Cambridge
Block paved drive approximately 45m2. We installed drainage along the front of the drive this time as the fall of the ground dictated. The customer chose a tegula block for this drive. The fence to the left side of the picture was tired so that was replaced at the same time. As you can see from the picture there is a large shrub in the middle the customer wished to retain this so we installed deep edging around the roots to protect the drive as it grows and put a boarder around it. In the future this could be filled.
2 – Block pave drive in Cambridge
This drive is approximately 2200m2. The customer chose marshall tequila block paving for this piece of work as per are recommendation it really compliments the brickwork of the house.
The build: Since The building is used as an office for a very busy accountants we opted for 60mm thick blocks which are suitable to a commercial setting. The tarmac was quite thin so broke out very easily with our digger and breaker. There was some damage to the brickwork at the base of the house and some damp, so as a precaution we installed a french drain against the house to improve drainage. We ran a central slit drain down the centre of the drive leaving a slight fall to it. The water is then run off into a new soak away. As with all Block Paving Cambridgeshire jobs this one was finished we 3 coats of epoxy resign seal to keep dirt and weeds out and the colour lasting.
3 – Patio in Girton, Cambridge
Block Paving Cambridge specialises in block paving but we also do all other masonry work including slabbing.
This rear garden was completely over grown. We cleared all vegetation before we could begin work. The paving was finished in precast stone made to look like natural indian sandstone. So as to keep costs down we terraced the garden with sleepers so didn’t have to remove too much soil from site.
The build: Then excavated 3 1/2 courses of brickwork below the DPC ( damp proof course) of the house.
4 – Block paved driveway in Bottisham, Cambridge
This block paving cambridgeshire drive is 20m2 constructed in pennant grey blocks by marshall. We created the chequered effect along the front to make it a little different. This was achieved by diagonally cutting lighter colour square blocks. As compliant with legislation drainage is installed to stop run off of water onto the road.
5 – Garden and Patio in Arbury, Cambridge.
This was a quick job for block paving cambridge. They had already had the drive done. We were called in to pave a path to the back garden. We matched in terms of colour the paving to the existing block paving on the drive, removed the old shed and created a bin area, The turf was taken up and replaced to finish everything off.
6 – Patio and Driveway in Girton
Block paving Cambridges also surfaces drives in tarmac.
This drive was gravel the new owners decided they wanted to do something different, since it was quite a large area and they were interested at keeping costs down after the move they opted for tarmac. An edging with a block surround was used to complete the look and 8 courses of blocks at the front of the drive really give it clean lines.
7 – Garden in Cherry Hinton, Cambridge
This Customer called Block Paving Cambridge, as they were not using the outdoor space, they found the garden unsightly. We cleared the area, put down a patio, turfed patchy area of the lawn, tidied the rest up with stepping stones and a small border ready for planting. A replacement fence is in the diary for next year.
8 – Garden in Ely, Cambridgeshire.
This garden had not been touched for a long time and had been rented out by the owner. Now back in the U.K. Mr Stern wanted to create a space where he could sit out in the evening. He selected this paving from one of the catalogues we showed him. We created a bed edged in sleepers for planting down the side and rear.
Photo is taken just after we sealed the slabs with resin hence the shiny effect. We couldn’t hang around until it dried as had another job to get on with.
9 – Tarmac and block paving Fulbourne, Cambridge
We were so happy with the outcome of an earlier tarmac drive completed with pennant grey block surround that this is quickly becoming our signature finish. This drive was old and tired rather than replace the existing this was redressed with a new tarmac wearing course keeping costs down. While we were there we gave it a face lift too.
10 – Paved patio in Fulbourn, Cambridge
This home originally had the paving completed using utility slabs. The customer told Block Paving Cambridge they had been wanting to get this work done for years. They selected this nice light coloured limestone. We finished it with small 100mm setts around the edges to hide any cuts in the stone. The paving continues right around the back of the house. The drive was also quite warn as had been down for 20 years or more. We gave the tarmac a fresh wearing course. That should be good for at least another 25 years.
The customers were delighted with the result.
11 – Patio in Chesterton, Cambridge
Rear garden patio. This piece of work was to replace an existing patio which had been laid badly. The slabs lifted up easily as were just bedded on sand. We checked the base and improved where necessary. The slabs were replaced, this time laid on a solid mortar bed and pointed using a resin agent. The new patio should last a lifetime.
